As I prepared to leave work this afternoon I noticed on radar that some shower activity was kicking up, ostensibly due to steep lapse rates and a short wave disturbance passing through the area. What I didn’t expect was to be diverted on my way home as I spied a very well-wrapped wall cloud over the Potomac River. After watching for a few minutes I called it into the Sterling forecast office. Since I didn’t have a camera with me the best I could do was to come home and review the radar history. There’s hope for spring chasing!
