The past few days provided the country with a pretty wild ride of winter weather. Myriad stories of folks stranded in airport terminals abound in the media, earning my “Shudder” award as I have been in those conditions before and have no wish to repeat them. Here in the Mid-Atlantic the temperatures have been swinging from one extreme to another, with the low yesterday in our area recorded as 10 degrees F and the high Monday only reaching near freezing. At least we had sun…today dawned a bit warmer but overcast with rain probabilities. It’s been so wild that today’s SPC Day 1 convective forecasts shows a slight risk for the mid-sections of the country:
Don’t think we’ll get that here on the East Coast, but it’s a reminder that storm chase season really isn’t that far off!!
