These first two days have been marathon on-the-road sessions, trying to get far enough west to chase storms today. After overnighting in Columbia MO last night we pushed hard to reach North :Platte NE this evening in hopes of catching storms that looked like they might fire in this region. Some updrafts did try to build as we watched from a vantage point south of town:

But alas, these amounted to naught and storms that did fire were about another 2.5 hrs west of us. We would have had to push even harder than we did to get into position on these very picturesque LP (low precipitation) cells, and we felt the tradeoff wasn’t worth it. After all, it IS only our second day and there are more opportunities to come.
