Another day in April, another chance to “chase”. I say that with tongue-in-cheek as I plan to go out and await the late afternoon arrival of this bad boy:


A full-fledged MCS is crossing the Ohio valley as I type this and it looks to ride southeast on the edge of the wedge front currently draped across the Old Dominion. The plan is to go out and “chase” it but the reality is that I will be the one chased as I maneuver to stay ahead of this complex.

This morning certainly feels right for a southern Virginia chase. The sun’s out in force and the air feels sticky. And altho’ the morning SPC Day 1 convective outlook doesn’t have our area under any severe weather risk I expect that to change in the 1630Z update.

Now to prepare.
