There will be some garden variety storms to chase the next couple of days. However the upper level winds – and thus the shear – are almost nonexistent so long lived rotating supercells are out of the question. If instability (i.e. CAPE) is robust enough there could be some hail producers but we’ll see.
Meanwhile there’s this:
Even tho’ the Atlantic hurricane season doesn’t officially start until next Wednesday (June 1st) this may develop into TS Bonnie. If it makes landfall on the Carolina coast things could get interesting next week. If it develops and if the circulation center tracks west of the Virginia Piedmont we could have an early season tropical remnant chase. Lots of “ifs” but it’s worth keeping an eye on.
