Another round of potentially severe storms in Virginia looks possible Tuesday. Here’s the SPC Day 3 outlook:
A check of the NAM and GFS indicate a tendency for westerly downsloping winds early Tuesday afternoon but a switch to southwesterly winds later in the day may hold hope for convection east of the Blue Ridge.
The southern fringes of an upper level trough extend into Virginia Tuesday, providing increased winds at 500 and 700 mb that result in some mid-level shear. Coupling that with moderate levels of CAPE (instability) may very likely result in some decent storms.
It’s on the chase radar at least.
