Given the dreaded “Polar Vortex” (insert eyeroll here) bulldozing bitterly cold air southward plus the limited daylight in mid-December I find myself reviewing old chase accounts and photos in an attempt to maintain a semblance of sanity. In addition to photographing severe storm features like wall clouds and funnels my eye is often drawn to rural stormscapes like this barn in Culpeper county in March 2011:

And perhaps even this scene from Franklin county this past July (2016):
And of course there’s always damage photos after the storm like this one in Bedford county in July 2014:
